Strong safeguarding isn’t just about having the right policies on paper, it’s about how well those systems actually work in practice. Our  first step with anyone who uses our services is to complete an Initial Safeguarding Review and Audit. This provides your organisation with independent, external assurance of your safeguarding leadership, culture, policies and day-to-day practice. With this in hand, we can the pinpoint target any critical areas that need your immediate focus in order to keep you and your staff fully and legally covered. This giving you clarity, confidence and inspection-ready evidence. We work with schools, alternative provision, care settings and organisations responsible for children, young people and vulnerable adults.

What Is a Safeguarding Review?

A Safeguarding Review and Audit is a structured, independent evaluation of how well your organisation protects the people in its care. Our safeguarding reviews provide a clear, independent picture of how well safeguarding systems are working in practice.

We look beyond paperwork to assess:

  • Leadership and governance oversight

  • Policy implementation and staff understanding

  • Record-keeping and incident management

  • Risk assessment, monitoring and response

  • Culture, visibility and everyday practice

We begin with a rigorous review of your existing policies to establish whether they require minor updates, targeted rewrites or a complete overhaul. This initial assessment identifies weaknesses, gaps and areas of risk — including policies that should exist but don’t. We provide you with a structured, evidence-based check of key systems and compliance points, ideal for governance assurance, targeted improvement planning or preparation for external scrutiny. Audits typically look at your policies, reporting systems, Single Central Records (where relevant), risk management, and practice against statutory expectations. Our approach mirrors how regulators like Ofsted and the CQC judge safeguarding in the real world — not just what’s written, but what’s happening. This focus can be across every policy you currently have in place (and crucially any that you may not already have but need) or can be targeted to specific policies that you request.
